Today God is calling you to release your tight fist and trust His perfect love. Take a moment to think about what you are withholding. Forgiveness? A move? A job change? An apology? Understanding? A person? Whatever “it” is—hold out your palm right now and picture it there. Close your fist tight over it and admit to God that it’s hard to let it go. Speak honestly with Him. Tell Him all about your pain.

Now, open your fist and lift your hand up to God. Choose today to give it to Him. Remember that this process is like a roller coaster ride with ups and downs, so you might need to do it again in an hour, and tomorrow, and the next day. But every time it comes to your mind, close your fist, open your palm, and lift it up. Let this be a symbolic act between you and God that helps you remember He is the All-Sufficient One who longs to bless you—even during times of famine.

I’m so excited to be on this journey to forgiveness with you. Joseph’s story is only going to grow more intense throughout the week, so we will need to fasten our seatbelts. This roller coaster ride of reconciliation is going to have some pretty significant highs and lows as we leave Jacob behind in Canaan and watch Joseph put his brothers through multiple “inversions” to see if they can be trusted.

God wants to draw near to you through all the ups and downs in your own journey with forgiveness and reconciliation. We serve a God who is an expert at forgiveness and longs to help through every twist and turn.
